Yellow Plakat (DT) male x Pastel (DT) female, spawn #123102. These outstanding breeders were raised by Jeff Hiller and Jim Sonnier.
Offspring from spawn #123102 should be long-finned and 25% Doubletails. Most of the fry should be Cambodian Multicolors. Some Red-loss types and Semi-Opaques should also be produced. Iridescence will be Green, and 50% should be spread. The male has outstanding finnage for a Plakat and is carrying the Doubletail gene. This is a Semi-Opaque female from my 040702 spawning, and she is carrying the Doubletail gene. Youngsters should be available for sale around May 3, 2003.

Blue Butterfly Half Moon male x Green Cellophane Half Moon female, encore #121602. These outstanding breeders were raised by Wray Tsuzaki (photo by Jack Lewin) and Jim Sonnier.
The fry from their first spawn (#100602) looked so good when I jarred them up I decided to spawn them again. Offspring from encore #121602 should be 50% dark bodied and 50% Cambodian. There should be Butterflies and Marbles, and many with Half Moon finnage. Some Red-loss types should also be produced. Iridescence will be some Blue, and some Green, and should be spread. The male is a beautiful Half Moon with triple ray branching (8 rays) and 180 degree spread. The female is from my 012002 spawning and shows triple ray branching (8 rays) and 180 degree spread. The female is also an IBC show champion, and the best that I have ever raised.

Green Marble Giant Plakat male x Multicolor (Plakat) female, spawn #111002. These outstanding breeders were raised by Wasan Sattayapun and Jim Sonnier.
Offspring from spawn #111002 should be 50% long-finned and 50% Plakat. There should be Multicolors and Marbles, and there should be some large fish. Some Red-loss types should also be produced. Iridescence will be some Blue, and some Green, and 50% should be spread. This is a very large female from my 011302 spawning, and is the daughter of a Yellow Plakat male also bred by Wasan. Youngsters should be available for sale around March 25, 2003.

1.26.2003 : Jarred up 12 total fry. That will be it for this transitional spawn.

Cambodian Red/White Butterfly Half Moon male x Cambodian Red/White Butterfly (HM) female, backcross #110102. These outstanding breeders were raised by Sieg Illig and Jim Sonnier.
Offspring from backcross #110102 will all be Cambodian with some Half Moon finnage. Some Butterfly, Opaque, and Red-loss will also show up. Iridescence will be some Blue, some Steel Blue, and some Green. This male is a son from a Markus Gutzeit & Rajiv Masillamoni Half Moon male. The female, with brilliant Red color, is a daughter of this male from my spawn #031202. Youngsters should be available for sale around March 16, 2003.

11.25.2002 : The bad news is that there were only 5 females out of 200 offspring! The good news is that many (probably about 25%) of the male offspring are Plakats (short tails)! Some of the plakat males are nicely colored with very good finnage.

Offspring from spawn #080302 should all be large cambodians or possibly dark bodied with outstanding size and finnage. Some Marble, Red-loss, and Cellophane Pastels should be produced. Some offspring may show the "Koi" type marbling of the male. Iridescence should be some Blue, and some Green, and should be spread. The male is a young Giant Plakat.

Black male x Blue Marble female, spawn #050402. These outstanding breeders were raised by Michael Rosen and Tom Aglione.
Offspring from spawn #050402 should be Black genotype Multicolors with outstanding finnage. Some Marble and Red-loss types should also be produced. Both parents were carrying the Cambodian (light body) trait recessively so 1/4 of the fry will be Cambodian. Iridescence will be some Blue, some Steel Blue, and should be spread. The male may be carrying a special gene for rapid fin growth. The female shows double ray branching (4 rays). Youngsters should be available for sale around September 4, 2002.

Marble Plakat male x Clear female, spawn #042102. These outstanding breeders were raised by Chusak Rungthanapipat and Jack Lewin.
Offspring from spawn #042102 were all full sized cambodians with outstanding size and finnage. Some Marble, Red-loss, and Cellophane Pastels were produced. Some offspring may show the "Koi" type marbling of the male. Iridescence was some Blue, some Green, some Steel Blue, and was normal (not spread). The male looked to be a hybrid from the Giant Plakat.
4.23.2002 : After 7.5 hours of spawning only about 12 fry were produced. These breeders were so large, deep and wide that they had tremendous difficulty with the spawning embraces. The female continued to lay about 100 eggs after returning to her jar. The male is a dutiful father.
4.28.2002 : Saw a couple of fry in the grass. There could be up to 12 fry in the tank so I will continue with this spawn.
5.13.2002 : There are 7 surviving fry in the tank, and they are quite large.
6.7.2002 : All 7 fry jarred - length about 3/4" at the age of 6 weeks.

Clear Doubletail male x Blue Marble female, spawn #040702. These outstanding breeders were raised by Jack Lewin and Tom Aglione.
Offspring from spawn #040702 should be half dark bodied and half cambodian with outstanding finnage. Some Marble, Red-loss, and Cellophane Pastels should also be produced. All offspring will be carrying the doubletail trait. Iridescence will be some Blue, some Green, and should be spread. There should be some light Blue, and light Green Pastels. The female shows double ray branching (4 rays) and is genotypically Cambodian. Youngsters should be available for sale around August 7, 2002.
5.14.2002 : Split up the fry into two 10 gallon rearing tanks. There were too many fry for just one 10 gallon tank.
6.8.2002 : Jarred up 15 fry.

Cambodian Turquoise Marble Crowntail male x Pastel Green female, spawn #031602. These outstanding breeders were raised by Sarawut Angkunanuwat and Phil Lafferty.
Offspring from spawn #031602 were all Cambodian with some Crowntail finnage. Some Marble, Opaque, and Red-loss also showed up. Iridescence was some Turquoise, and some Green. The male showed some interesting webbing sacs. The female showed iridescent Green (mask) on her face and was from Half Moon lines plus she was genotypically Opaque.
3.19.2002 : It looks like very few fry survived -- about 25.
5.16.2002 : Jarred up 20 of the largest fry. Left the rest, about 25, in the rearing tank.
5.24.2002 : Close inspection of all the juveniles reveals that this spawn produced 100% females. I will keep 5.
